The pop-up restaurant experience

image_pdfimage_print

The concept of a pop-up shops is still so fresh in most of Africa’s capitals so imagine my delight when I heard of a pop-up restaurant happening during the Kampala Restaurant Week that ended mid-July. The Food Library brought this lovely concept to life and I had to check them out because honestly apart from low prices there’s not much to look forward to during a restaurant week.

Experience & Rating

I’d rate my experience there at 8/10 considering factors like ambience and service. I’m a bit biased with food because I’m not a huge fan of fine dining but this was a once in while experience so I enjoyed the bougie-ness. My sister had a delicious potato blinis topped with chicken schnitzel sticks and served with amazing cream sauce which made it the better of the two dishes ordered so I ended up eating most of her food lol.

My only complaint was with the music system; it was on and off and the music played wasn’t ideal for dining. Also the menu wasn’t the easiest to understand but the manager was so kind as to explain each dish to us even though I ended up ordering something a tad bit too dry for my liking.

For a first time they did quite well and got my vote on the KRW2017 restaurant awards website. I can’t wait to see more of these pop-up restaurants happening in Nairobi, Dar, Kigali and Kampala.

I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves…
